Find more online job sites, including specialty sites for certain kinds of occupations or people, at the Go2WorkSource Job Boards page.

From the “go2worksource” website you can also access tips on Job Hunting and Making the Most of Career Fairs. These WorkSource links provide great ideas and guidelines for developing a job search strategy that will bring positive results.

Of course, on-line job search is just one way to find out about job openings and career strategies. Call or visit your local WorkSource office for information on additional resources, workshops, and networking events.

Creating an Effective Resume

Having an updated resume is a critical part of on-line job search. A resume outlines your skills and experiences so an employer can see, at a glance, what you might bring to his or her organization.

If your resume is outdated, or if you have never created a resume before, you may want to attend a WorkSource workshop on resume writing. There are several styles of resumes, each with it’s own purpose, as well as new workforce trends to consider when you begin writing your resume.

See WorkSource Workshops for a calendar of free classes available on resume writing, interviewing and more. Look in the category “Getting Hired."

Some on-line resources for writing and formatting your resume:

  • Resume Writing and Posting Tips at Go2WorkSource.com
  • Proven Resumes - Although this website sells sample resumes, you can also find free resume tips for specific careers and occupations. Look in the column in the middle of the page.

Posting Your Resume On-Line

After you’ve updated your resume, visit the WorkSource Resume Center to post your resume on-line. (You must register and login to use this free service.) Posting your resume through WorkSource allows registered employers to view your resume on-line using the WorkSource Talent Bank Resume Search. It also allows you to apply for jobs listed by employers through WorkSource.

For help posting your resume, come to a WorkSource site for assistance from an employment specialist. We also offer “Computer Skills” workshops that teach you how it’s done.
