DESCRIPTION:Due to the healthcare industry’s standard practice of nonstandard hours\, and planned and unplanned scheduling\, there is a major lack of access to childcare for their workers. Most of the workforce in Washington state is struggling with childcare needs since we are only meeting about 28% of the anticipated need. \nHealthcare employers\, and connectors to healthcare employers should attend this session\, as the Imagine Institute will be presenting on some actionable solutions and resources around closing the childcare gap – as it relates to recruitment and retention. \nSome innovative work the Imagine Institute did with the Machinist Institute: \n\nIncrease Access to Family Child Care – invested in Imagine U to expand access\, build capacity\nOpen a Child Care Center\, close to worksite that operates nonstandard hours- from predevelopment studies\, securing real estate\, project team and design\, staff job descriptions\, policy building\, cost analysis\, operating budget planning\, branding and marketing\, building community partnerships and supporting funding opportunities.\nDesign a Network for nonstandard hour childcare.
